Measured building surveys
This is where we measure all aspects of a building with laser scanners to prepare floor plans, elevations and sections showing it in its current situation. Our survey then forms the basis of all sketches and final plans for whatever is planned. It is therefore very important that the information is absolutely accurate.
In the event of the property being listed or situated within a conservation area, the level of detail required can be greater. This can range from showing features on or within the building through to being able to show areas of repairs on plans and elevations.
Additionally, we have done surveys to locate the doors and windows of neighbouring buildings to ensure an extension doesn’t start affecting the neighbours right to light etc.
LGA have invested in technology to aid the surveying process and to ensure the information provided is accurate and representative of the building. The use of laser scanners in measured building surveys provides a huge amount of data which we can then process and pick out the required level of detail.
Topographical Surveys
A topographical survey is a detailed survey of an area of land and shows ground levels and contours, the position and size of buildings, boundaries, trees and vegetation and services. This survey forms the basis of the sketches and final plans of a scheme.
The combination of a topographical survey with a measured building survey provides details of the building – both internal and external – together with detail of the site which it sits within.
Matterport Imagery
The LGA Matterport camera allows the team to produce photographic – 360 degree imagery – walkthroughs of buildings and sites. This is a service some clients request as due to the location of the site or the number of people involved with a project, a 360 degree photo tour can provide people with a good sense of a building without the travelling. These tours are something a lot of estate agents undertake for some properties they have for sale.
Thermal Imagery
LGA also has a thermal camera which can show the weak points of a building.
Access to the LGA technology and services gives our Bleazard & Galletta clients access to quick and highly detailed surveys. The huge amount of information contained in these surveys would otherwise have taken considerable time to collect. Access to this technology in-house gives us great confidence with the data and the plans we then produce.
